On Day 5 we went down for breakfast and couldn't believe it was the last day! We were all very tired, but still so excited from the week that we had had! After a wonderful breakfast that was sponsored by the University of Phoenix the STOYs headed out to the US Department of Education to meet with Arnie Duncan, his staff, and the ED Teaching Fellows Program.
Once we were there we were divided up into groups and discussed the RESPECT document, issues, and shared ideas. It was really neat to be asked from the US Department of ED on our opinions. I was excited to share my opinion and to listen to my amazing colleagues. There was so much knowledge in that room!
Afterwards we boarded up the bus and headed back to the hotel. We had such a wonderful time and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to spend a week in Washington DC with Joseph and all of the State Teachers of the Year!
