ECU Teacher Cadet Day

Yesterday I traveled to Greenville, NC to ECU for their Teacher Cadet Day.  While there I had the opportunity to talk with juniors and seniors who have shown interest in teaching.  It was wonderful being around so many excited students.  Good luck to everyone for the rest of the high school careers and their future teaching careers!

AdvancED Conference

I had a wonderful time meeting excellent educators at the AdvancED Conference in Greensboro.  The theme for the conference was "Creating the Future: Local Focus Global Impact".  I had the opportunity to discuss with others about how technology can open up doors for students.  When technology is used as a tool in the classroom students can collaborate, with other students across North Carolina, the United States, and abroad.

Storyteller, Musician, and Author at Bethel Elementary

I had a chance to go back home and visit the wonderful students and staff at Bethel Elementary School.  While I was there, Bethel was hosting two wonderful guest speakers.  One guest was Joe Shannon who is an amazing musician and author.  The other guest was Bethel alum and local Ned Trivette who is a wonderful storyteller.  The two guests spent their day entertaining small groups of students by playing instruments and telling stories.  Joe Shannon also read his book titled Tennis Shoe Love which was located in our library.  Thank you both Mr. Shannon and Mr. Trivette for visiting Bethel! It was a wonderful day!

Public Education

Three questions to ask yourself:

1. What is the purpose of public education?
2. What is public about public education?
3. How does liberty relate to public education?
